One of the secrets to happiness is to learn how to say NO to things that don’t matter and YES to the right stuff.

I have to remind myself often to remember this as I always want to help and please others. If you are like me, it is difficult to say “NO” when someone asks.

I am now mindful of me, and of not putting myself at the bottom of my to do list. This is not selfish but is practising self-care. If I am unhappy and burnt out then I can’t help or serve others to my best potential.

If you struggle to say “NO” to someone in the moment try to respond with “can I check my agenda and get back to you?” This will give you a breather to think so that you can decide if you really want to do the task or not. Then you can get back to them with an answer that feels good to you and that aligns with your values

There are also times when we say YES to someone, and then we regret it and then do the task with resentment.

Remind yourself always, that when you are asked to do something, you are allowed to take a moment to check in with yourself and your agenda before you answer or commit.

Just remember that each time you say NO, you are saying YES to yourself and to your Self-Care.
